Band 7 Physiotherapist — Fixed Term (12 Months, Maternity Cover)

Ready to lead a therapy team somewhere genuinely special? A residential care and rehabilitation community on the Sussex coast is looking for a Band 7 Physiotherapist to provide clinical leadership and day-to-day oversight of its therapy service. 12-month fixed-term maternity cover, 4 days per week, £50,000 FTE.

Why South Cliff, Eastbourne?

Few clinical roles come with a view like this. Eastbourne is a seaside town with a relaxed pace of life, a Victorian and Edwardian seafront, sweeping lawns and gardens, and the South Downs National Park and dramatic Beachy Head cliffs right on your doorstep. Walk the promenade on your lunch break, take a coastal run before your shift, or spend your weekend on the hills. Direct trains run to London, so you get the best of both worlds: the calm of the coast and easy access to the city.

Working here means a daily routine that feels less like a commute and more like a lifestyle upgrade.

The role

  • Provide Band 7-level clinical leadership and oversight across the therapy team
  • Deliver high-quality physiotherapy assessment and intervention, including outpatient services
  • Supervise and develop the physiotherapy team, therapy assistants and student placements
  • Support complex clinical decision-making and identify when further assessment or referral is needed
  • Manage caseloads, timetabling and clinical records, and contribute to resident reviews and discharge planning
  • Lead on audit, evidence-based practice and clinical quality improvement
  • Work collaboratively with care staff, families and external NHS and multidisciplinary colleagues

What we're looking for

  • HCPC-registered Physiotherapist (essential)
  • Diploma or degree in physiotherapy, with a broad range of postgraduate clinical experience (essential)
  • Experience supervising staff and delivering in-service training (essential)
  • Strong clinical reasoning, critical appraisal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • A supportive, empathetic and can-do approach, and a genuine commitment to person-centred care
  • Desirable: postgraduate qualifications such as MSCP, clinical educator training, or falls assessment experience

Good to know

  • Fixed-term contract for 12 months (maternity cover)
  • Bank holiday and weekend working is part of the role, and the post is physically active
  • Enhanced DBS, references and right to work checks required
  • Double vaccinated against Covid-19
